CALL TO ORDER

1. Public discussion period.

"Have the Park and KDB boards discussed partnering to plant trees in our City parks? Over the years, trees in our City parks have died with few or no trees replanted.

Re Agenda #7: As I have Public Commented previously, I wholeheartedly support the Park Board scheduling park tours. Please note City Parks that you deem need trees planted. Trees cost money, in addition to digging and ongoing maintenance. Duncanville is a Tree City. Does the Tree City designation offer us opportunities for grants for trees?"

B. "Good evening, my name is Corrina Unal, 1014 Briar Hill Circle.

"I want to tell a little about my experience at Cedar Ridge Preserve. Since 2009, I have hiked there, and cherished it, as a jewel inside our metroplex. I always think, “how amazing that something like this exists in the metroplex…a place where you can totally be absorbed by the woods environment, and believe you’re out in the middle of nowhere. The surroundings nourish the soul, body, and spirit. Nothing else can give the tranquility the way nature does.

For Duncanville to have such a rich jewel in our midst, that can give a similar benefit to our citizens, is a far greater value than anything that can take its place on the land. For generations to come, no doubt, many will come to enjoy what a preserve has to offer, including those all around the area. I have a friend who hikes at CR Preserve weekly, who lives in Plano. No doubt, many will flock to our city as well. It is a gem that we would be wise to preserve, for our community, our environment, and the abundant wildlife that lives in the green space."
