Claiming Self-Defense

The plaintiff met the defendant at church, where she’s been a member for 27 years, and the two eventually got married. She claims the defendant became verbally and physically abusive, and she’s suing him today because he beat her so badly that she blacked out. The defendant says after they got together, she became extremely demanding and treated him like a little boy. He says her nagging turned into verbal abuse, and although he admits that he hit her, he insists it was in self-defense because she attacked him first.
